Domino Sunset
Domino Sunset is a piano piece inspired by playing dominoes while on holiday with family. It is mostly in a major key, and it lilts along like a quick waltz. Although the harmony is rooted to C major to begin with, it drifts seamlessly to other distant keys, like a carefree breeze.
The music is often contrapuntal, with a constant stream of quavers weaving between the hands, and landing in just the right places to complete the harmonic function. Even though there are many moments of dissonance, any tension is always resolved to a brighter chord within a couple of beats.
